Laser Vaporization

Laser vaporization of tissue means that it is removed immediately upon contact with the laser light. The tissue vaporizes leaving a cavity where the tissue once was. This method of applying laser energy in the treatment of BPH results in immediate realization of the clinical objective. With tissue vaporization, there is no need to wait for tissue to reabsorb or slough as there is when tissue is merely ablated (cooked). Generally when tissue is vaporized there is some edema (swelling) which requires a catheter to be worn for a around 24 hours, although sometimes less, or not at all.
